Features

The MAVO Wizard 2.0 is a compact manual coffee grinder made by MAVO. It pairs a 6-axis CNC-machined conical burr in 420 stainless steel with a double-bearing centre shaft, an aluminium body and 24 clicks per rotation at 0.04mm each. It comes with a Versatile burr, an Espresso burr, or both, holds up to 20g of beans, weighs 440g and packs into a zip-up carrying case.

Two burrs, one body

The burr lifts out of the body, so the Wizard 2.0 is offered with either of two stainless steel conical burrs, or with both. The Versatile burr (pentagon profile) covers everyday brewing from espresso to cold brew. The Espresso burr (hexagonal profile, also called Espresso Plus) has a wider recommended click range that starts finer, at 10 clicks for espresso. With the burr set you can swap between them at home.

CNC-cut 420 stainless steel burr

The burr is machined on a 6-axis CNC from 420 stainless steel hardened to 55–58 HRC. The precise cut leaves virtually no overly coarse particles and keeps fines to a minimum.

Double bearings for a steady shaft

Two P5-grade bearings hold the centre shaft in position so the burr turns true and the gap between the burrs stays consistent while you grind, which is what keeps the particle size even. The shaft itself is machined to micron-grade tolerances for concentricity.

0.04mm per click, set from zero

The numbered dial under the burr moves 0.04mm per click, 24 clicks to a full rotation. Turn it clockwise to its tightest point to reset to zero, then count clicks out: clockwise for finer, anticlockwise for coarser. Starting points for the Versatile burr are espresso 14–18 clicks, Moka pot 20–22, pour over 38–42, French press 42–46 and cold brew 44–46.

All metal, easy to carry

The knurled aluminium body is anti-slip and compact: about 15.5cm tall and 5cm across, 17cm wide with the handle fitted. The S-shaped crank handle attaches magnetically and ends in a solid wood knob — dark wood on the black grinder, light wood on the silver. At 440g it travels in its zip-up hard case, with a cleaning brush for the burrs.

FAQ

What is the MAVO Wizard 2.0?

The MAVO Wizard 2.0 is a manual coffee grinder made by MAVO. It uses a removable conical burr in 420 stainless steel, cut on a 6-axis CNC, turning on a double-bearing centre shaft inside an aluminium body. The grind dial moves 0.04mm per click, 24 clicks per rotation. It holds up to 20g of beans, weighs 440g and comes with a zip-up carrying case and a cleaning brush.

What is the difference between the Versatile burr and the Espresso burr?

They are two interchangeable stainless steel conical burrs for the same grinder. The Versatile burr has a pentagon profile and covers espresso through cold brew in a fairly tight click range (espresso 14–18, pour over 38–42). The Espresso burr has a hexagonal profile, also called Espresso Plus, and a wider recommended range that starts finer (espresso 10–20, pour over 30–42). The burr set includes both, so you can swap between them.

Which grind setting should I use?

Reset to zero by turning the dial clockwise to its tightest point, then count clicks out. Starting points for the Versatile burr are espresso 14–18 clicks, Moka pot 20–22, pour over 38–42, French press 42–46 and cold brew 44–46; for the Espresso burr, espresso 10–20, Moka pot 16–28, pour over 30–42, French press 34–48 and cold brew 36–50. The dial numbers only help you count clicks from zero, so adjust by taste from there.

Can the MAVO Wizard 2.0 grind for espresso?

Yes. Both burrs have espresso settings: 14–18 clicks on the Versatile burr and 10–20 on the Espresso burr, and each click moves the burrs 0.04mm. If you mainly make espresso, the Espresso burr or the two-burr set gives the wider, finer range.

Is the grind adjustment internal or external?

Internal. The numbered dial sits under the burr, so you unscrew the grounds chamber to reach it and change the setting. That is fine if you use one or two brew methods, but slower than grinders with an external dial when you switch between espresso and filter often.

How much coffee can the MAVO Wizard 2.0 grind at once?

Up to 20g of beans per grind — enough for an espresso dose or one to two cups of pour over. It is a single-dose travel grinder, not a batch grinder for a large pot.

Is the MAVO Wizard 2.0 body metal or plastic?

Metal. The body is aluminium with a knurled anti-slip finish, the burr is 420 stainless steel, and the crank handle is metal with a solid wood knob. The grinder weighs 440g.

How do I clean the MAVO Wizard 2.0?

Take the burr out and brush away the grounds with the cleaning brush that comes in the box. Do not wash the grinder with water. The burr lifts out of the body, which makes cleaning and swapping burrs straightforward.

What comes in the box?

The grinder with the burr you selected (the burr set has both the Versatile and the Espresso burr), a zip-up portable carrying case, a grind size reference card and a cleaning brush.
