Features

The MAVO Crysbrick Cold Brewer is a full-immersion cold brew maker: coarse coffee steeps in cold water inside a sealed pitcher, and the built-in filter holds the grounds back while you pour. No electricity, no paper filters, no drip stand.

A brick shape earns its shelf space

Flat sides mean the Crysbrick can be stored standing, laid on its side, or stacked with a second unit, because the lid seals watertight in every orientation (manufacturer-rated). A round jug can only ever stand upright; this one uses the fridge space you actually have.

350-mesh filter, no grit in the cup

The removable filter tube carries a 350-mesh screen (manufacturer-rated) fine enough to hold back coffee fines, so the brew pours clean without a paper filter. It takes 20g to 80g of coarse grounds, which covers anything from a single serving to a full 800ml batch.

Built to be cleaned, not just used

The filter tube has a pull handle and a removable base cap, and the large lid lifts off completely, so every part that touches coffee can be rinsed under the tap. MAVO notes that the natural-colour filter stains with use — that is cosmetic, not a fault.

Honest limitations

  • 800ml is the working capacity. Some resellers list this brewer as “1 litre” or “34 oz”; that is brim volume, not what you can steep and pour.
  • Tritan is shatter-resistant plastic, not glass — lighter and fridge-safe, but it will scratch more easily than borosilicate.
  • The filter is a fine mesh, not paper. Cold brew from a mesh filter carries slightly more body and oils than a paper-filtered brew.
  • MAVO gives no dishwasher rating and no published steep time for this model.

FAQ

What is the MAVO Crysbrick Cold Brewer?

The MAVO Crysbrick Cold Brewer is an 800ml full-immersion cold brew coffee maker made by MAVO. Coarse ground coffee goes into a removable 350-mesh filter tube inside a BPA-free Tritan pitcher; you fill with cold water, seal the lid and steep in the fridge, then pour through the built-in filter. Its distinguishing feature is the flat-sided “brick” body, which can be stored standing, on its side, or stacked.

Is it 800ml or 1 litre?

800ml. MAVO's own product page, its specification graphics and the scale moulded into the pitcher all state 800ml, with marks at 200, 400, 600 and 800ml. Some resellers list the same brewer as “1 litre” or “34 oz” — that figure describes total brim volume, not the volume you can actually steep and pour. Kafava lists the manufacturer's 800ml working capacity.

How much coffee does one batch make?

A full 800ml batch is roughly two to three servings of cold brew poured neat, or four to six when diluted over ice or with milk at 1:1. The filter tube accepts 20g to 80g of grounds (manufacturer-rated), so you can also brew a single serving without changing equipment.

How much coffee should I use and how long should it steep?

A practical starting point is 60–70g of coarse grounds to 800ml of cold water — about 1:12 — steeped 12 to 24 hours in the fridge. MAVO publishes no official recipe or steep time for this model, so treat these as general cold-brew guidance: longer steeps and finer grinds give a stronger, heavier cup. Use the 20–80g dose range as the manufacturer's limits.

Can it really be stored on its side or stacked?

Yes. MAVO rates the sealed lid as watertight in any orientation, and the flat brick body is designed to be laid down on a fridge shelf or stacked with a second unit. This is the main practical difference from round cold brew jugs, which only store upright and waste the space above them.

Is it dishwasher safe?

MAVO does not state that the Crysbrick is dishwasher-safe, so hand washing is the safe answer. It is built for it: the filter tube has a pull handle and a removable base cap, and the large lid lifts off completely, so every surface that touches coffee can be rinsed. Expect the natural-colour filter to stain brown with use — MAVO notes this is normal and does not affect filtration.

How is this different from an ice-drip brewer?

This is an immersion brewer: the grounds sit in cold water for hours, which is forgiving and needs no supervision. An ice-drip (slow-drip) brewer such as the TIMEMORE IcyPipe passes melting ice water through a coffee bed one drop at a time, which takes a few hours, needs a valve set correctly, and produces a lighter, more tea-like cup. Immersion is the easier route to a full-bodied cold brew; ice drip trades convenience for clarity.

Can I brew tea or fruit infusions in it?

Yes. The 350-mesh filter tube holds loose leaf tea and fruit or herb pieces as readily as coffee grounds, and MAVO lists iced tea and fruit tea as intended uses. Rinse the filter thoroughly between coffee and tea so flavours do not carry over.
