Features

The TIMEMORE x MILLAB M01 is a flagship manual coffee grinder from MILLAB, TIMEMORE's premium grinder line. It uses 44mm stainless steel Pineapple conical burrs with a five-stage grind path, an external dial of 12.5-micron clicks, P7 bearings and a threadless swivel-lock catch cup. The all-metal body weighs 1,100g, holds 35g of beans, and won a Good Design Award.

Pineapple burrs: a flat-burr grind path in a conical set

Most grinders chase consistency by making burrs wider. TIMEMORE made the M01's burr taller instead. The 44mm Pineapple burr, co-developed with Grinding Labs, has a vertically extended geometry that spreads the grind across five stages, so beans are spaced out and shaped gradually rather than crushed in one tight chamber. TIMEMORE rates its effective cutting surface at 60mm — a grind path longer than many 64mm flat burrs — with a 50% taller cutting surface and 10% more consistent grounds than its own S2C-042-III burrs (TIMEMORE Labs data, published for reference only). The UK distributor Sigma Coffee lists the burr at 30mm tall.

SUS420 steel, 5-axis CNC, 58HRC

Each burr starts as a blank of SUS420 hardened stainless steel rated at 58HRC. It is turned, shaped and then finished on a 5-axis milling machine with 0.005mm accuracy, and every burr is quality-checked before the grinder is assembled and packed by hand (manufacturer description).

External dial: 100 clicks, 12.5 microns each

Grind size is set on an external dial below the hopper, built from five all-metal components. Each click moves the burr 12.5 microns (0.0125mm), and one full turn covers 100 clicks, numbered 0 to 10. TIMEMORE's starting ranges are 0–1.5 for espresso, 1.0–3.0 for moka pot, 5.0–9.0 for pour-over and 8.0–10.0 for French press. Because the dial sits outside the body, you can change setting without taking the grinder apart.

Tight tolerances and P7 bearings

TIMEMORE quotes a 0.0725mm burr gap tolerance at the finest setting, the tightest of any TIMEMORE grinder to date, and custom P7 bearings that hold the shaft to a runout as low as 3 microns (manufacturer-rated). A steady shaft keeps the gap between the burrs constant while you turn, which is what keeps particle size even.

Threadless catch cup that snaps to lock

The catch cup has no threads and no magnets. A swivel-lock coupling holds it in place with a twist and a snap, a chamfered edge gives your fingers purchase, and a silicone foot keeps the grinder steady on the counter. The cup holds up to 50g of grounds.

Two finishes, 51 parts, award-winning design

The M01 is built from 51 individual components in aluminium alloy and stainless steel. It comes in Black — a matte black body with a walnut grip and walnut knob, finished to resist water and stains — or Silver, a quicksilver aluminium body with a striated grip and an aluminium knob. The knob is fully removable. The design won a Good Design Award in 2024.

The black and walnut TIMEMORE x MILLAB M01 floating in an amber-lit cave opening above the headline 'Simply groundbreaking.' and TIMEMORE's intro: twelve years of refining grinders, tighter tolerances and materials pushed to their limits, reimagined as the M01 hand grinder Six feature cards for the M01: All Metal Build with 51 individual components; All-New Pineapple Burrs with a five-stage grinding design; Swivel Lock Catch Cup with no threads or magnets; Multipurpose Grind Dial at 12.5 microns per step; Good Design Award 2024; P7 Bearings with 5 micron tolerances Class defining burr set: 'Flat burr flavor meets conical convenience.' Why the Pineapple Burr is taller rather than wider, with its grind path exceeding many 64mm flat burrs, and three figures: 50% taller cutting surface, 60mm effective cutting surface and 10% more consistent than S2C-042-III burrs (TIMEMORE Labs data, for reference only) Built for the grind: SUS420 hardened stainless steel, 5-axis CNC manufacturing and 58HRC industry-standard sharpness; each burr blank is turned, shaped and finished to 0.005mm accuracy, quality-checked and hand assembled The proof is in the profile: a particle-distribution chart comparing M01, TIMEMORE S3 and another grinder, with notes that typical conical burrs fracture beans irregularly while the Pineapple Burr spaces grinding across five stages for a tight, uniform distribution Grind adjustment dial: '1 twist. 100 settings. FAQ

What is the TIMEMORE x MILLAB M01?

The TIMEMORE x MILLAB M01 is a premium manual coffee grinder made by MILLAB, the grinder brand TIMEMORE backs with its own engineering. It pairs 44mm stainless steel Pineapple conical burrs with an external grind dial of 12.5-micron clicks, custom P7 bearings and a threadless swivel-lock catch cup. It holds 35g of beans, measures 66 × 197mm, weighs 1,100g with its handle and comes in Black with walnut or Silver.

What is a Pineapple burr, and how is it different from a normal conical burr?

A Pineapple burr is a conical burr made taller rather than wider. TIMEMORE's 44mm Pineapple burr stretches the grind path vertically across five stages, which spaces the beans out and shapes each particle gradually instead of fracturing it in one tight chamber. TIMEMORE rates its effective cutting surface at 60mm and says the grind path is longer than many 64mm flat burrs — the aim is flat-burr-like uniformity in a hand-grinder-sized conical set. In a review, The Coffee Chronicler measured exceptionally consistent results with fewer fines and boulders.

What grind setting should I use for espresso, pour-over or French press?

TIMEMORE's starting ranges on the 0–10 dial are 0–1.5 for espresso, 1.0–3.0 for moka pot, 5.0–9.0 for pour-over and 8.0–10.0 for French press. Each number is ten clicks and each click is 12.5 microns, so you have plenty of room to fine-tune inside a range. Treat these as starting points and adjust by taste and by bean.

How much coffee can the M01 grind at once?

TIMEMORE's specification table gives a 35g bean capacity, and the UK distributor Sigma Coffee lists 35–40g. The brand page also advertises an 'XL 50g' figure, which refers to the catch cup: it holds up to 50g of grounds. Plan on about 35g of whole beans per load — enough for a large pour-over or two espresso doses.

Is the M01 heavy or hard work to grind with?

It is heavier and slower than many modern hand grinders. The M01 weighs 1,100g with its handle, and the straight crank takes effort on fine settings. In The Coffee Chronicler's review a 20g pour-over dose took about 35 seconds and a 16g espresso dose about 55–60 seconds, and the reviewer found it physically demanding for espresso. Some owners rest the grinder on their thigh at an angle to make it easier.

Is the M01 all metal, or is there plastic in it?

TIMEMORE describes the M01 as an all-metal build of 51 components, and lists its materials as aluminium alloy, stainless steel and acrylic. The burrs are SUS420 stainless steel and the dial is made of five metal parts. The Black model's grip is walnut wood rather than metal.

What is the difference between the Black and Silver M01?

Only the finish. Black has a matte black body with a walnut wood grip and a walnut knob; Silver has a quicksilver aluminium body with a striated grip and an aluminium knob. Burrs, dial, bearings, capacity and dimensions are the same. One owner review notes the walnut grip on the Black model is smooth and offers less grip than the striated finish.

Are the dial markings easy to read?

The numbers on the M01's dial are small. The Coffee Chronicler found the markings hard to read in low light, so you may want good light when you change setting. The dial itself is stepped with clear clicks, which lets you count clicks instead of reading the scale.

What comes in the box?

The M01 grinder — main body, catch cup, handle and knob — plus a commemorative coin, a cleaning brush and the M01 user manual.
