Features

The TIMEMORE Autospin is a battery-powered automatic WDT tool for espresso puck preparation, made by TIMEMORE. Twelve 0.3mm needles reach 22mm into the grounds and travel a fixed orbit that reverses direction, replacing the hand-stirred distribution step. It starts when it touches the portafilter and stops when you lift it, with no buttons. It fits 58mm straight-walled baskets only.

Why automate WDT

Stirring by hand depends on your speed and depth: stir too fast and the grounds are thrown towards the edges, stir too shallow and pockets of clumps stay below. The Autospin turns that step into a repeatable mechanical motion, so the same pass runs every time you prepare a puck.

12 needles on a bidirectional orbit

Twelve ultra-fine needles, each 0.3mm thick, sit on a planetary arm and sweep the coffee bed along a fixed path, alternating clockwise and counter-clockwise. The needles reach a depth of 22mm. The reversing motion keeps grounds from building up at the edge of the basket, which a single-direction spin can cause.

Starts and stops on contact

There is no power button to press. Set the Autospin onto the portafilter and it starts spinning; lift it off and it stops. A small LED shows its state: white when it is on or charged, orange while charging, and off when it is powered down.

Four-point support for 58mm baskets

Four legs on a wide chassis rest on the rim of the portafilter and centre the tool over a 58mm basket, so the needles stay in the middle of the puck. The top is open, so you can see the coffee bed as the needles move through it. Only 58mm straight-walled baskets are supported: curved-walled baskets and 3-lug portafilters are not compatible.

Rechargeable, built for long service

A 500mAh lithium battery drives a 5V DC motor and is rated for more than 2,000 preparation cycles per charge. It recharges in about 1.5 hours over USB-C; if it is not in regular use, charge it about every three months. A USB-C charging cable is not included.

Materials and finishes

The body combines stainless steel, aluminium alloy, food-grade ABS and silicone, and it measures 81 × 81 × 79.5mm and weighs about 180g. It comes in Black and Silver, each a separate variant with its own barcode, and six spare needles are supplied in the box.

Autospin WDT Tool hero: the tool floating above desert dunes under the headline 'Set. Spin. Savor.' — stop stirring, start spinning, eliminate channeling and unlock even extraction with a single tool

Feature cards for the Autospin: Type-C charging with 2000+ cycles per charge, Bidirectional Cycle that improves distribution while preventing edge build-up, 12 Needle Design with orbital full puck coverage, Fully Automatic start on contact for a hands-free finish, and Full Coverage that breaks clumps and peaks

'12 Needle Planetary Distribution' — twelve 0.3 mm needles travel in a fixed orbital system, rotating like clockwork to cover the whole bed and eliminate clumps for an even distribution every shot

Animated: top-down view of the Autospin's needle arm sweeping its orbit inside the round housing

Amber cutaway render of the Autospin: 22 mm needles give deep-reach coverage and are customisable to your basket depth, with six spare needles in the box

'Fully Automated Puck Prep' — place Autospin on the portafilter and it takes it from there, alternating clockwise and counter-clockwise orbits for uniform distribution without centrifugal force pushing grounds to the edges

Animated: amber cutaway of the Autospin seated on a portafilter as the needles turn inside the basket

Before and after: a portafilter basket of clumpy, uneven grounds beside the same basket levelled and evenly distributed after Autospin

'Four-Point Stability' — a wide four-legged base fits 58 mm baskets only and does not support 3-lug portafilters; compatible with straight-walled baskets, incompatible with curved-walled baskets

Animated: the Autospin's four-legged base turning on a dark background

'At-a-Glance LED Indicator' — white light means powered on or charging complete, light off means powered off, orange light means charging in progress; the indicator LED sits on the side of the housing

'Where Design Meets Performance' — a 500 mAh lithium battery with Type-C charging reaches full charge in about 1.5 hours for over 2,000 cycles; an open-top housing lets you watch the planetary orbit; Auto-Start & Stop begins when placed on the portafilter and finishes on lifting off or automatically

FAQ

What is the TIMEMORE Autospin WDT Tool?

The TIMEMORE Autospin is a battery-powered automatic WDT (Weiss Distribution Technique) tool for espresso. Twelve 0.3mm needles reach 22mm into the grounds and move on an orbit that alternates direction, breaking up clumps and evening out the coffee bed before tamping. It starts when it touches the portafilter and stops when lifted, with no buttons. It measures 81 × 81 × 79.5mm and weighs about 180g.

What baskets does the Autospin fit?

It is designed for 58mm straight-walled baskets only. Curved-walled baskets and 3-lug portafilters are not compatible.

How do I start and stop it?

There is no power button. Place the Autospin on the portafilter and it begins to spin; lift it off and it stops. An LED shows the state: white when it is on or charged, orange while charging, and off when it is powered down.

How does the bidirectional orbit help?

The needles sweep the bed in a fixed planetary path and reverse between clockwise and counter-clockwise passes. This prevents grounds from piling up at the basket edge, which a single-direction spin tends to cause, and removes the speed and depth variation of stirring by hand.

How long does the battery last and how do I charge it?

The 500mAh lithium battery is rated for more than 2,000 preparation cycles per charge and recharges in about 1.5 hours over USB-C. If it sits unused, charge it about every three months. A USB-C cable is not included in the box.

Can I replace the needles?

Yes. The needles are replaceable, and 6 spare needles come in the box.

What is in the box?

The box contains one Autospin WDT Tool and 6 spare needles. The USB-C charging cable is not included.

Is it a replacement for a tamper?

No. A WDT tool only distributes the grounds before tamping. You still need a tamper to compress the puck, and the Autospin is intended to be used before it.

Does it work with portafilters smaller or larger than 58mm?

No. The four-point support is built around a 58mm basket, and only 58mm straight-walled baskets are compatible. It is not suited to 51mm or 54mm portafilters.
